Acupuncture

Michael L. Fox, L.Ac., Diplomat Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM)

Acupuncture is the use of ultra-fine sterile, disposable needles which are inserted at specific points of the body to precisely redirect the flow of qi energy. There are thousands of acupoints on the body, with over 360 being commonly used. Each has its own specific function. Depending on the desired effect, different techniques can be used to either stimulate, sedate, or regulate the flow of qi. A typical insertion can last from fifteen to forty minutes, sometimes more, sometimes less depending on the desired outcome. This sets the stage for the body to repair itself and maintain its own health.
