Mobile Shoot CYH May 2010
I know it’s been a while since I’ve last blogged. I’ve been in a writing lull since the Summer started but I have been active in so many other areas of my life that I haven’t had a moment to settle in one place! Summer brings out the best in me as I feel more alive during this season. Being outdoors and keeping up with the buzzing activity of life. One of the more special activities actually started before Summer hit, it happened in May of this year when
I joined up with the talented Peter Bedard and Alex Cason (amazing camerawoman) for a 2-day CYH Mobile Shoot. We had set up a total of 11 production shoots over the weekend and got footage of so many new Practitioners for Create Your Health. As the Associate Producer, it was my absolute honor to help Peter line up the Practitioners for this around shoot on location around the Los Angeles area, coordinate their locations, and be in touch with the Practitioners as we stayed on time as we traveled to our various locations. I even PA’ed with hauling/setting up various equipment to keep us moving along. What a fun and rewarding experience this was for me!
The first on our schedule Saturday was Craig Harris, he demonstrated on Peter a procedure called the Hendrickson Method – a rolling, lulling massage that assists in working through the pains and blockages of one’s body. From there we headed over to Astrologer Stephanie Jones’ place where Peter had his illustrious Astrological Birth Chart done. Oh what a treat to be in such excellent company! And such an experience to see both Stephanie and Peter in action! After lunch we headed over to see one of my favorite people, Beryl Nozedar. Beryl is a multi-faceted extraordinary woman who grew up studying herbs in New Zealand. We all got such a delight learning from Beryl about Herbology and what home remedies to use for various symptoms.
Next on our list was the sweet healings of Emily Van Horn who opened Peter up to Somatic Trauma Resolution. This is the latest video to be released on CYH and absolutely shows Emily’s effective treatment. Go here for viewing: http://www.createyourhealth.com/somatic-trauma-resolution
We closed the day with the Reverend Stuart Lovett who taught us all a thing or two on the Healing Breath. A procedure I highly recommend to push out unwanted negative energy in your body.
On Sunday, the day began with Peter and Alex going to film the always energetic Dr. Grace. She’s one of CYH’s most enthusiastic Practitioners and an Integrative Chiropractor. Her episode was on The Beck Protocol.
Following Dr. Grace, we headed to Larchmont to tape, Cindy Albon on Pain Focused Acupuncture and then her colleague Sharron Barr on Fertility Acupuncture. Both women are outstanding examples of Eastern Medicine in action. One of my good friends and all around healer were next on our roster – Jason Thatcher. Not only is Jason an all-around magnificent Body Worker, he has the amazing healing touch with Reflexology. That lucky Peter!
Following this treatment, Peter got a full scan with Dr. Darrow, who specializes in Anti-Aging and Hormones. Dr. Darrow is a very well versed Western Medical doctor who also integrates other methods and philosophies in his practice when all other western methods seem to fail.
Finally, our night was complete when we finished up our taping at the always entertaining Ms. Beryl Nozedar once again. This time Beryl, the Medium, would be training us and others invited on the how to’s of a séance circle or better yet, how to talk to the departed. And what a fascinating night it was! From grandparents, mothers, fathers, old friends and including a pet cat – these were some of the few who showed up to give many of us guidance and say a friendly hello or meow in our current lives. This was surely a fun way to end on a high note on the 2-day mobile shoot Create Your Health weekend! Crazy busy but all around FUN! Would I do it again?! ABSOLUTELY!

CYH Mixers!
Every 1st Tuesday of the month, Create Your Health organizes their monthly mixers at the West Hollywood Whole Foods on Santa Monica Boulevard. The 2nd Tuesday of the month, the CYH Mixer is usually held at various locations in Silver Lake and its
surrounding areas. http://www.createyourhealth.com/mixers
These monthly mixers are not only informative with various Practitioners of Holistic, Homeopathic and Therapeutic Services but they are also so energizing and quite fun and offer a chance of meeting new people and creating new friendships. Just last week I met two very sweet an amazing people – The Reverend Stuart Lovett, an attunement master and teacher of healing breath work, www.thehealingbreath.com, as well as his lovely friend and business partner Ellany Lawrence, who specializes as an Angel Therapy Practitioner, http://www.touchingbodynsoul.com/
These were just two of the many guests of CYH who dropped by to find out what CYH had to offer and hopefully make connections regarding their services and find ways to make their businesses grow. CYH is truly a great gathering place for Healers, those seeking Healing and those reaching out to find new contacts and connections.
Usually CYH has 2-3 active Practitioners present at every CYH Mixer.
And the many guests and friends who attend are looking for that one or several healing techniques that work for them. This past week, the three practitioners present at the West Hollywood CYH Mixer were Jamie Bechtold who specialized in Sound Therapy, www.dancingspiral.com, Rachel Hardy, http://www.bodyworkbyrachel.com/index.html, who specialized in Body Work and Massage, and Emily Van Horn of Somatic Trauma Resolution, www.EmilyVanHorn.com, who dropped by to offer a Healing hand or wand to assist those needing her services!
All three Practitioners had a waiting list of potential clients who were all very eager to get their unique take of the various healing modalities. And while people wait their turn for the various Practitioners, there were free offerings of tasty snacks and drinks provided to the CYH Mixer, compliments of Whole Foods. All while you got to mix and mingle with other wonderful like-minded souls.
As I said earlier, the CYH Mixers are truly a place for sharing and getting to know your fellow Practitioners, hopeful clients, business contacts or other(!), all in a very safe, fun and intriguing setting. To me, this is what life is all about. Opening up oneself for new experiences where we can all learn and grow together. This is why I truly enjoy attending the CYH Mixers.

Kundalini Yoga – March 6th, 2010
Because of my compact physique and lack of movement due to a current desk job, I have been told by my massage therapists, physical therapist and chiropractor, that I need to engage in forms of physical exercise to relieve my body tension. And since I am not into typical routines of exercise, my favorite methods of relieving stress is either swimming or yoga. And while being a Pisces, swimming does happen to be one of my favorite forms of exercise that does work all muscle groups at once. But since I
am not fond of swimming on cold days usually in winter, my other favorite method of stress relief during all times of the year is Kundalini Yoga – The Yoga of Awareness. I have tried other forms of yoga as well such as Hatha which does tend to strengthen and sculpt me, however this Pisces Soul enjoys the warm and inviting retreat at the Ashram at Yoga West in West L.A. http://www.yogawestla.com/
Both the Gurus and Teachers at Yoga West have the all around package of what a great teacher is to me. Not only are they so gentle and friendly at this Ashram, this is a very warm and welcoming safe haven for the students and practitioners alike that come here. Much of Kundalini Yoga centers around the breathing while going through the poses, exercises also called kriyas. Kriya is an orchestrated pattern of movement, sound, pranayam, mudras, concentration and meditation that automatically guide the energies of the body and the mind to a specific result or change of consciousness. This form of yoga works on so many levels. It not only helps the body physically but this form of yoga helps me get back in touch with my spirit center and mental clarity. But do not get me wrong, Kundalini Yoga is not just breathing and meditating with no action. Days following the start up of Kundalini and quite a few muscle groups have a slight burn if I overachieve. AND, Kundalini can work several muscle groups at once. Depending on the mudras (exercise routine or pose) the yogi will have us work on different muscle and spiritual groups on different days, sometimes in accordance to the planetary alignments. Some mudras are harder than others, but all done at our individual given strength and pace. No exercise or pose is ever forced upon us. One of my current favorite teachers goes by her spiritual name Guru Jagat Kaur, but she also goes by her online name Kundalini Katie. http://www.kundalinikatie.com
Katie is a very warm and knowledgeable soul. She is a gentle practitioner with a firm grip on the practice of Kundalini Yoga. She is attuned to the planets and trained on all of Yogi Bhajan teachings http://www.yogibhajan.com/. Yogi Bhajan was the person responsible for bringing Kundalini Yoga to the United States back in 1969. At the end of our kriyas, we finalize the routine with a very nice and needed slow down by going into relax pose, palms up, the yogi or practitioner playing slow chanting music to unwind. He or she may then play the singing bowls or warm up the beautiful deep rich tones of a gong lulling us into a deep meditative trance or if fully relaxed – deep sleep. After our trance we will sit back into easy pose and sing or chant to ourselves, our loved ones and the universe at large. Now what other form of exercise gives back this way?! Sat Nam.

Chi Nei Tsang
from Vaishali’s assistant Aime, who told me Vaishali was offering for a price, one-on-one treatment of Chi Nei Tsang with anyone attending this seminar. I decided to purchase a half hour gift for my partner Jo.
Jo has had digestive issues her whole life and would, I hope, get some kind of knowledge and relief from this kind of treatment. I believe, this was the best gift I could have ever given her. Vaishali is such a God-send. As I sat in the room opposite them during this treatment, Vaishali pulled in her own deep personal experience and explained the technique. She referred to the navel as the recycling center of the body. This is where ALL of our emotions, negative thoughts and experiences reside. These negative issues are hardly ever processed or eliminated and sit in this
area of the body to, as Vaishali put it, putrefy. Vaishali spent about an hour with Jo, I believe she knew the severity of Jo’s condition. This was not only a gift to my partner, but a bigger gift to both of us, in helping us understand the Mind, Body, Spirit connection. Following Jo’s evaluation and treatment of Chi Nei Tsang, it was time to do it all over again, this time in a group setting. As Vaishali explained the way a healthy belly and belly button should look, we all took turns in our 15+ numbered group, jumping up on a table with mirror in hand and seeing such a diverse group of navels and learning the technique of Chi Nei Tsang. It kind of reminded me of the vagina parties women had in the 70’s except we were all gazing at navels instead of vaginas and learning a new technique. I use this technique now in my morning routine. And being the Warrior Woman that I am, I believe I will not only eliminate all of my negative thoughts and past experiences residing in my navel, I will possibly lose weight in the process! Now that’s a gift!
My First Blog
On this 5th or 6th consecutive day of rain here in Los Angeles, I believe that I have had enough. My shoulder hurts (previous sports injury, recent computer repetitive pain) and my back and spine ache from the cold, dampness and pressure in the air. I try not to let the rain get to me though. I know we need it here in L.A. but it can truly depress me. Still, I stay positive, stretch my muscles as much as I can, drink water to give homage to the rain and keep my spirits up about it.
My girl Cassie is the one who truly appears depressed about the rain. This little compacted finely tuned bundle of white haired muscle and vigor is my West Highland terrier. She’s actually quite affected both physically and emotionally by this on-going rain and appears quite depressed about it. She has been more tired, curling up and sleeping more than ever – not like her usual spirited self – barking at the window or chasing the occasional neighbor through the house and out to the fenced backyard, which happen to be walking their dog or strolling their child down the street. But then I think, “Oh yeah, those distractions are not out there for her to chase right now.” It’s funny but even on the TV Show “30 Rock” last night, one of the comedic lines was regarding SAD, or rather Seasonal Affective Disorder. Yes, it truly does exist. And although I experience it at least once a winter season, I truly allow for the fact that this is only temporary. This rain is needed. Our water is such a commodity. Besides, here in LA, our winter season IS the rainy season. We don’t experience snow or true change of seasonal weather, like leaves changing color, temperatures dropping dramatically or being caged in our homes while the snow piles up outside. We experience rain, and LOTS of it. I do pray that we continue to have the natural occurrence of rain, but now I’m ready to see, feel and experience the sun again… so at least Cassie can enjoy it and return to her normal cantankerous self. And I can hear her bark at the window and watch her chase the neighbor, dog or child through the house and out to the fenced backyard, scold her for a second then giggle to myself that she’s back to her normal self again and be ever grateful for the warm sun and beautiful blue skies.
